Recordings include performances of Kathak dance and Kathak dance music and interviews with several Indian dancers and instrumentalists. Interview topics include the experiences and changing roles of performers, performance techniques and styles, the role of circles, tala, raga, abhinaya, rasa, natyasastra, raslila, gopi, and lila, and the connection of Kathak dance to Indian philosophies of aesthetics, spirituality, and religion. The use of Kathak dance for character portrayal and as a means of expression is also discussed.
